Chairman – Dan Muoki
Daniel has vast and diverse experience in research, design, planning, development, and management in tourism, hospitality, environment, and business events. He spearheaded the development of Kenya’s Meetings, Incentive Travel, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) product that led to the formation of the Kenya National Convention Bureau, the body that is mandated to market Kenya as a preferred business events destination. He also serves as a Hotel and Restaurant Assessor of the Tourism Regulatory Authority. Daniel is a private consultant based in both Nairobi and Mombasa. He holds an MBA in Project Management from Kenyatta University and a BSc in Tourism Management from Moi University.
Vice Chair – Joy Goopio
Joy is one of the key persons who started the School of Tourism and Hospitality at Strathmore University in Nairobi, Kenya in 2008. She is a Certified Hospitality Educator (CHE) designated by the American Hotel and Lodging Educational Institute (AHLEI). She is also an accredited trainer for the Certification in Hotel Industry Analytics (CHIA) of AHLEI. Joy is a board member of the International Council on Hotel, Restaurant, and Institutional Education – European Federation (EuroCHRIE) serving as Area Consultant for East Africa. Joy holds a Doctor of Hotel and Tourism Management (D.HTM) from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
Secretary – Sam Ikwaye
Sam combines his business knowledge with hospitality skills and academic experience with industry practice. He lectures at specific universities in Mombasa while serving as Executive Officer of the Kenya Association of Hotelkeepers and Caterers (KAHC) Coast Chapter. He is the former CEO of the Pubs, Entertainment, and Restaurants Association of Kenya (PERAK)) and is currently the President of the Federation of Kenya Employers – Coast chapter. His experience with these organizations and his expertise in the hospitality trade pivoted him to be a Certified Hotel Assessor for East African Community Hotels and Restaurants Classification Criteria. Sam earned his Ph.D. in Business Administration with a focus on social entrepreneurship.
Treasurer – Robert Kimani
Robert is a hospitality professional with over 16 years of operational experience in various local and international hotels in Kenya. Robert is a hospitality consultant working for Omani Limited based in Ngong, Kajiado County. He holds an MBA in Global Social Sustainable Enterprise from the United States International University – Kenya and a bachelor's degree in Tourism Management from Moi University.
Assistant Treasurer – Bentah Praise Wafukoh
Bennetah is a hospitality professional with over 20 years of experience with a proven ability to manage operations, general administration, logistics, and finance, as well as leading teams to achieve set targets and growth. She is a Food and Beverage Controller Officer at Sports Kenya which is under the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Sports and the Arts. Currently, she is pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy in Diplomacy and International Relations at Atlantic International University. She holds a Master’s degree in Hospitality Management from Moi University and a Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management from Strathmore University.
Assistant Secretary – Millicent Onditi
Millicent is a renowned chef who specializes in food safety, nutrition, and health gastronomy. She is a founder member of the Culinary Practitioners Association of Kenya (CPAK), an association that brings chefs together. She has extensive knowledge in hospitality training as a food production lecturer at Kenya Utalii College. Millicent’s diverse experience brings together training and operations to foster career growth and advancement. She obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Hotel and Hospitality Management from Moi University and various diplomas and certificates from different training institutions.
